Redefining Accessibility with Robotic Tentacles

More

About Us

Imagine a future where exploration and inspection are limitless. At Xtent, we are developing groundbreaking flexible robotic tentacles inspired by nature’s design, like an octopus’s arm. These tentacles can navigate confined spaces with unparalleled agility and precision, reaching areas traditional tools can’t touch. With the ability to deform into any shape and maneuver through complex environments, our tentacles redefine accessibility and efficiency. Utilizing our patent-pending technology and advanced control systems, Xtent empowers industries from aerospace to infrastructure maintenance. Join us in revolutionizing exploration and inspection capabilities—because the future is flexible, and it’s here with Xtent.

We provide services from conceptualization, CAD design and prototyping of new robots including specialized algorithms for ground and aerial robots, robot arms, motion planning and control, deep learning for object detction and simultaneous localization and mapping

Applications

Our products find applications in the following sectors

Turbine & engine

Our tentacles can be safely deployed to inspect the intricate blades deep inside a gas turbine engine, where precision and thoroughness are paramount.

Military

Designed to navigate dense terrain and urban environments, our advanced tool provides essential data gathering capabilities while ensuring the safety of personnel during delicate operations.

Oil & gas pipeline

In pipelines, our tentacles surpass the limitations of conventional scopes, effortlessly navigating bends and traversing lengths that were once inaccessible.

Search and rescue

In post-earthquake scenarios, these nimble tentacles swiftly explore debris and rubble, providing crucial insights and aiding in rescue efforts.

Nuclear power plant

Our robotic tentacles are invaluable in the hazardous environments of nuclear power plants, where human access is restricted due to safety concerns.

Underwater

For underwater inspections, Xtent's tentacles shine in exploring intricate underwater structures and shipwrecks, overcoming the challenges of deep-sea environments with precision and resilience.

CAD Internship

Apply by: 5 December 2025

We are currently looking to hire an intern who could dig deeper than what is being asked for and push the boundaries of hardware design using CAD software (SolidWorks). This internship would be a great opportunity to learn about the complete lifecycle of hardware development and deployment for technologies that are not there in the market yet. Preference will be given to candidates with demonstrable experience irrespective of educational qualifications. You will be under the direct supervision of our CEO.

Work mode & hours

  • Mostly remote with bi-weekly meetups at one of our offices.
  • Hours: Up to 20 hours / week.
  • Probation: 4 weeks. During probation allowance is provided (max Rs. 500 / week). After successful probation this increases to Rs. 2,000 / week.

Location

  • Calicut (IIMK campus) & Kochi (Maker Village), Kerala, India.

Duration

  • 3 months (possibility of extension or conversion to a full-time role).

Essential

  • Proficiency in CAD software (preferably SolidWorks).
  • Good communication skills.
  • Ability to meet strict timelines / deadlines.
  • Attention to details.

Desirable

  • Degree in Mechanical / Production Engineering (Encouraged to apply if you meet the essential requirements irrespective of education).
  • Experience with structural analysis (mechanical).
  • Experience with engineering design.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes.

Interview process

  1. Short initial call.
  2. Practical modelling/design task in CAD / SolidWorks (you will be asked to model basic → complex parts/assemblies).
  3. Final discussion.

How to apply

  • All that is required is as follows (max 1/2 of A4 paper).
    • Your name and contact details.
    • A project portfolio site / GitHub link (if any)
    • Links to your best works in CAD / SolidWorks (max three)
  • Fill out the form to apply
